Susan Williams
Presenter: Susan Williams has been in the field of education for the past 38 years and has worked in all grade levels both as a teacher and a school leader. She is currently the lead of the student support team at InterAmerican Academy in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In this role she is responsible for coordinating language, learning and gifted needs for students from Grade 3-12. Prior to that, she was the director general of the American School in Quito, Ecuador for 20 years. She has also been a principal, vice principal and teacher. Ms. Williams received her B.A. from the University of Florida and her M.A. in educational leadership from the University of Alabama as well as a certificate in educational leadership from Buffalo State University. She has served on the Board of the Association of American Schools in South America and the Latin American Council for Cognia.

Workshop Description: In this workshop, we will explore the building blocks of implementing a Gifted Education Program for K-12 schools based on the successful program at IAA. Participants will be provided with practical tools to initiate a strong program designed to meet the individual needs of exceptional students. We will explore some aspects of twice exceptionality and working with students and their families to ensure individualized learning goals are being met.

How to design a student learning plan for Gifted students?
What are some of the pitfalls of student learning plan meetings?
What activities are appropriate and enriching for metacognition and critical thinking sessions?
