BIO:
Shelley Hawkes (M.Ed) is an international special educator passionate about the inclusion of students with differences in international school settings. She has taught at international schools in Jordan, Dubai, Malaysia and Chile. The International School of Kuala Lumpur, received the International School Award for Initiative to Support Inclusion based on the Life-Centered Education program Shelley helped create. Shelley has spoken at several conferences across the Middle East and SouthEast Asia promoting the acceptance of students with autism and other differences. Shelley co-authored the Next Frontier Inclusion (NFI) publication, Challenge Accepted.

Join international educator and SENIA director, Shelley Hawkes, for an hour exploring the complexities of student behavior. Shelley answers the questions behind “why” students struggle behaviorally by exploring the causal and functional approaches to behavior. Afterwards, she will share numerous strategies at the different tier levels of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) within the MTSS Framework. Attendees will walk away with practical evidence-based strategies they can implement immediately with their students.
