Bio
Dr. Jessica Gilway is the Director of Santa Cruz Cooperative School in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. She has served as the Director of SCCS for 3.5 years, the Director of Two Rivers Community School for 4 years, the Founding Principal of GALA for 2 years, and the Director of Curriculum & Instruction of Urban Community School for 2 years. She was an educator teaching 5th through 8th grade for 9 years as well. She served as a professor in Expressive Arts Therapy & Educational Leadership at Appalachian State University. She has a bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in Environmental Studies & Latin American Studies, as well as Spanish.
She has a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of New Mexico, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Appalachian State University and Buffalo State University. She is a licensed bilingual teacher and school administrator in the states of North Carolina, New Mexico, and Ohio. In addition, she is a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor, and a certified restorative practices trainer. Her specialities include: restorative practices, social-emotional learning, trauma informed educational practices, sustainable educational leadership practices, and international education. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
