Jody Langan is a literacy consultant and educator. She began her teaching career at IAA, and most recently served as both a full-time professor and K-2 staff developer at Teachers College, Columbia University. She now supports schools across the world in literacy and multilingual education.

Choosing and Using Decodable Texts: 3+ Ways To Utilize Decodables In Your Literacy Instruction


In the session, educators will gain insight into why and how to choose quality decodable texts for their literacy instruction, based on the most recent work from Wiley Blevins, Louisa Moats, and Michael-Rae Grant. Educators will also learn how to implement the use of decodables in three different literacy methods: shared reading, guided reading, and writing.
